For three decades DeFazio’s name has been synonymous with the term “Best!”
In 1984, with our first restaurant in Shockoe Bottom, we were picked as the “Best New Italian Restaurant” of the year. Two years later, we were selected as the “Best People’s Choice Award” at a major fundraiser. Shortly thereafter we won “Best in show” at a local food festival featuring Hanover tomatoes, and “Best Use of Strawberries” for our strawberry relish. Our customers would always comment or send us thank you notes saying, “Y’all are the Best!”
In 1988 we opened DeFazio’s of Innsbrook and proudly took Richmond by storm! We had the best food prepared by the best chefs from San Francisco. We were in the best location, Innsbrook. DeFazio’s boasted the best and the biggest wine list in the region. We designed the very first elevated and open display kitchen. It was the best and a testament to showing our customers how we do it best. Our patio was the best place for Innsbrook concerts. And finally, DeFazio’s bar was without doubt the best place to see and be seen, have lunch, dinner or simply hang out and listen to the jazzy baby grand piano. And on Sundays you could shag to the sounds of the live broadcast of the “Sunday Night Beach Party.”
DeFazio’s of Innsbrook was also awarded the “Best Restaurant of the Year in 1990!
In 2000 we decided to grow our catering business where we could serve more people, and offer the best in catering.
Catering was organic and came so naturally. Our customers simply wanted us to bring our restaurant to their home, office, church, charity, wedding and so on. We never lost our desire to be “the BEST.” We only wanted to be liked by our customers.
Today, Defazio’s is one of the most trusted and respected caterers in Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding areas. We can handle a wide variety of events, from wedding catering to box lunches, we are proud to deliver the best catering in Richmond, Virginia.
Why DeFazio’s? It’s a desire rich in history. Quite simply, we love to offer the best, and we have YOUR BEST interest at heart!

A passion for fine wine and a lifestyle surrounded by family and good friends is the reality created by Joe and Jo Anna Dombroski at New Kent Winery. Since purchasing the New Kent Winery in September 2014, the entire Dombroski family has been involved in the success of the winery. Youngest son, Jacob, oversees the development of our many varietals as Vice President of Winery Operations. His wife, Lindsay, is in charge of marketing, and their three young children, Berkley Lane, Jacob Coleman, and Talley Grace, bring their smiles and joy each day. Eldest son, Joseph, designed the new label and handles information technology, Jessica tastes and enjoys with her husband, Kevin Keller, and Joshua helps during harvest time.

A scenic winding drive leads travelers to Saudé Creek Vineyards. Prior to the purchase of this land by winery, the acreage belonged to the Eames’ family for hundreds of years. An 18th century cemetery, surrounded by a black iron fence marks the final resting place and early passing of Edward Lee Eames (1871-1873). Saudé Creek’s historic acreage was the site of a colonial tavern named John Frank’s Ordinary, a meeting place for early travelers. Until the creation of Saudé Creek Vineyards, the land was farmed and then lay dormant. Saudé Creek’s goal is to renew and revive the land by growing present day grapevines.
With the purchase of the 100-acre property in 2008, 20 acres of grapes and 1000 apple trees. Grape varietals include Vidal Blanc, Traminette, Viognier, Petit Verdot, Petit Menseng and Chambourcin. Today, visitors to our wine room are offered magnificent views of the vineyard from a tasting room made of 160 year old timbers rescued from tobacco warehouses. Surrounded by lush gardens, the craftsman-style winery has 3,000 square feet of covered porches and a towering stone fireplace whose log fires gently illuminate the interior.
